Senior🎓
Top SchoolLuís Brandão is a Senior Software Engineer and technical leader based in Lisbon with 15 years of experience building resilient, high-performance backend systems and leading cross-functional teams. He has driven large migrations and rewrites—moving long-lived monoliths to distributed microservices, modernizing stacks (Python 2→3, Kotlin/Spring Boot rewrites) and introducing continuous delivery to speed releases. At BuzzFeed he architected real-time ranking and a public API used across platforms, and later led engineering and product delivery at startups and scaleups, blending hands-on coding with hiring and process design. Passionate about sustainability and urban mobility, he focuses on using technology to improve city life while balancing product impact and engineering craft. Notably, he combines an academic AI background (MSc, University of Amsterdam) with recent creative study in photography, reflecting a curiosity-driven approach to problem solving and user-centered design.
