Top SchoolMarco Chiarandini is an Associate Professor in Computer Science at the University of Southern Denmark with over a decade of research and teaching experience in combinatorial optimization and experimental analysis of heuristics. His career spans PhD training in Darmstadt to postdoctoral and faculty roles focused on designing and empirically evaluating metaheuristics for hard optimization problems. He combines deep theoretical grounding with hands-on algorithm engineering, routinely bridging rigorous analysis and practical performance studies. Based in Odense, he has a track record of sustained academic leadership since 2005 and an interdisciplinary background in management engineering with electronics from the University of Udine. Notably, his work emphasizes reproducible experimental methodology, making uncommon contributions to how heuristics are benchmarked and compared.
