Senior🎓
Top SchoolMark Thompson is a Senior Web Tools Engineer with nearly a decade in game industry backend development and over a decade of web engineering experience. He specializes in PHP8 (Symfony), Go, and scalable backend architectures using Postgres, Redis, MongoDB, and DynamoDB to build high-availability, high-concurrency systems such as matchmaking, lobbies, and real-time communications for MMOs and console/PC cross-launches. Mark excels at integrating third-party services (Twitch Drops, OAuth providers, AWS services) and designing cheat-resistant, secure systems that bring single-player features into multiplayer environments. His background spans hands-on server and web API work at Frontier, Splash Damage, and Build A Rocket Boy, plus early full-stack and hosting expertise from agency days, giving him deep operational and deployment instincts. Notably, he designs solutions that balance game design needs with robust engineering constraints, and most of his production work remains in private repos, underscoring a career of proprietary, shipped systems rather than open-source visibility. Based in Doncaster, UK, he is actively expanding into Kotlin while continuing to focus on metagame problems and real-time service reliability.
