Summary
👤
SeniorMatt Lee is a seasoned software engineer with 16 years of experience who blends hands-on development, system administration, and community leadership in the free software ecosystem. After a decade focused on development he spent six years as a community manager and writer/designer for free-software advocacy, then returned to engineering in 2012, bringing stronger ops and collaboration practices. As Technical Lead at Creative Commons he helped shift the organization to open workflows using IRC and GitHub, and he maintains two longstanding free-software projects, GNU FM and GNU social. Unusually, he also produced a widely viewed short film starring Stephen Fry for the Free Software Foundation’s 25th anniversary, demonstrating an ability to communicate technical values through creative channels. Based in Boston, he combines pragmatic engineering with a talent for community-building and technical storytelling.
