Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolMatt Mangia is a Staff AI Engineer with six years of experience building data-driven systems and driving AI adoption across GTM, product, and ops domains. Trained in theoretical mathematics, he transitioned from data engineering to architecting real-time streaming and RAG-enabled intelligence platforms at Confluent, and now leads AI efforts at GitLab. He has a track record of translating complex technical problems into pragmatic solutions—examples include a real-time account context engine using embeddings and vector stores, governance that saved $200k in cloud costs, and CDC strategies that reclaimed terabytes of storage. Comfortable working with engineers, data strategists, and executives, he blends hands-on engineering with program-level leadership to accelerate adoption and impact. Based in Columbus, Ohio, he tends to focus on connecting disparate systems and surfacing real-time insight rather than building flashy point solutions.
