Senior🎓
Top SchoolMichael Culshaw-Maurer is a Senior Data Scientist with nine years of applied research and production experience, currently building customer-facing real-time transit prediction products for Metro Transit in Saint Paul. He holds a PhD in Ecology from UC Davis and blends rigorous experimental thinking with pragmatic software and data engineering to improve rider experience and operational reliability. His background spans academic research, teaching graduate-level computational workflows (git, R, RStudio) and postdoctoral roles, which gives him a strong foundation in reproducible science and data-driven decision making. Michael pairs field-based ecological data experience with modern ML and real-time systems, an uncommon mix that helps him translate messy, real-world signals into actionable transit predictions. Colleagues rely on him to bridge domain expertise, curriculum development, and production deployment in public-sector transit analytics.
