Top SchoolMichael Steffen is a mission-driven technology and policy leader with 11 years of experience building and scaling high-impact data teams across startups, government, and big tech. As Head of Climate Analytics at Watershed he leads efforts to turn granular emissions data into operational tools that help companies decarbonize in this critical decade. He previously ran cross-functional organizations of up to 200 people at Meta and led data, mapping, and legal teams at Mapbox, bringing a rare mix of product, data engineering, and program leadership. His background in regulatory policy and large federal programs (including delivering a $5B school connectivity expansion at the FCC) gives him a practical lens on deploying data-driven initiatives at national scale. Comfortable moving between 0-to-1 product strategy and 100+ person operational execution, he is singularly focused on applying rigorous analytics to accelerate corporate climate action.
