Top SchoolMichael Yoo is a software engineer based in Sydney with 11 years of experience building reliable, performance-focused systems across startups and large engineering organizations. Currently a P4 Software Engineer at Atlassian after a stint in site reliability, he brings practical SRE sensibilities to software development and a track record of shipping optimisations—most notably a 30x speedup for a production data enrichment pipeline using asyncio. His background spans Python-heavy backend work, serverless AWS architectures, observability and tooling, plus early entrepreneurial experience running high-traffic web properties. Comfortable teaching complex systems (Band 1 student experience) and ideating pragmatic developer tools, he blends hands-on coding craft with an emphasis on measurable performance and developer experience. Notably, he describes himself wryly as “a neural network that happens to output syntactically valid code,” signaling a playful, experimental approach to engineering.
