Top SchoolNimmi Weeraddana is an Assistant Professor and software engineering researcher with nine years of industry and academic experience focused on testing, debugging, continuous integration, and the human aspects of software development. She completed a PhD in Computer Science at the University of Waterloo following a master's at the University of Victoria and began an academic appointment at the University of Calgary while maintaining teaching and research roles at Waterloo. Her work bridges practical industry experience— including an R&D internship at Ubisoft and software engineering roles in data science—and rigorous empirical SE research, making her well-positioned to translate developer challenges into actionable research. Nimmi actively seeks MSc and PhD students interested in video game testing and developer-centric CI research, signaling a niche blend of gaming and human-centered SE. Colleagues describe her research approach as impact-driven: she pursues improvements that raise developer productivity and broader societal benefits rather than purely theoretical advances. Based in Calgary, she combines classroom mentorship with collaborative industry partnerships to drive applied research outcomes.
