Top SchoolNuwan Jayawardene is a software engineer and PhD candidate with nine years of industry and academic experience, currently teaching and researching at Colorado State University. He blends hands-on engineering—demonstrated by ongoing contributions and committer status at The Apache Software Foundation on Apache Synapse—with curriculum design and student mentorship across undergraduate and graduate courses. His background spans IoT, middleware, and edge AI, having worked on containerizing legacy ESB systems and developed course content for Edge AI modules tied to an international curriculum. Comfortable moving between research, teaching, and open-source development, he brings a practical focus on making complex distributed systems deployable and maintainable. An early communicator of technical products, he has also produced developer-facing evangelism and documentation that bridge engineering and user adoption.
