Top SchoolOwen Klaiss is a seasoned software engineering manager with 11 years of experience building and leading cloud-native teams, now managing engineering at Samsara from San Francisco. He previously led GoPro’s Cloud Engineering org, owning global media transcoding, streaming, and storage services and driving cross-functional alignment across Product and Design. Owen combines hands-on systems design—serverless, microservices, Kubernetes, and multi-region infrastructure—with applied ML for media discovery using LLMs, computer vision, embeddings, and hybrid search. He has deep experience in identity, OAuth, and media pipelines, and has shipped features from low-level device orchestration to consumer-facing live streaming. As a founder of a media/marketing startup, he brings product sensibility and growth-focused thinking to engineering decisions. Known for turning complex distributed systems into reliable, scalable services, he thrives at the intersection of media, cloud, and AI-enabled search.
