Top SchoolPatrick Cable is a senior security engineering leader with 13 years of experience building and operating large-scale observability and data platforms, now leading Security Engineering at DraftKings from Portland, Oregon. He combines hands-on systems and tooling work with people management—often switching between writing infrastructure code, negotiating cloud costs, and running platform operations. At F5 and Threat Stack he designed and ran data ingestion, logging, and monitoring pipelines (OpenTelemetry, Kafka, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch) and led platform security efforts that made the secure path the easy path for engineers. He contributes practical documentation to open-source ops curriculum material, reflecting a knack for translating complex ops/security concepts into clear guidance. Known as a “roll-up-the-sleeves” problem-solver, he pairs pragmatic execution with a strategic view of cost, compliance, and reliability.
