Top SchoolPatrick Huarng is a software development engineer with a decade of experience building cloud-native, data-intensive systems across startups, finance, research, and hyperscale platforms. He combines hands-on development at AWS and Amazon with prior roles leading technical direction as Co-Founder of Better World Technologies and engineering work at M1 Finance and the University of Chicago CTDS. His strengths span distributed systems, AWS, Kubernetes, Scala/Java, and data engineering—backed by graduate research modifying the HotSpot JVM for big-data workloads. Comfortable switching between product-focused startups and production-critical enterprise services, he also handles legal and operational responsibilities in early ventures. Based in Detroit, he pairs a disciplined CS academic background (MCS, University of Chicago) with practical consulting and analytics experience from ISG and Braintree. Notably, his work bridges low-level systems research and large-scale cloud deployments, reflecting an uncommon mix of JVM internals and cloud platform engineering.
