Top SchoolPaul Olthof is a politically engaged alderman in Zoeterwoude with 11 years of professional experience who oversees finance, economy, urban development and housing while bringing a technical mindset from a long career in software development and IT leadership. He transitioned from entrepreneur and hands-on roles—developer, IT manager, architect and project lead—to public service, applying analytical rigor, coaching skills and Scrum-trained delivery to complex municipal challenges. His background includes building and managing development teams, shaping IT strategy for organizations large and small, and running his own businesses, which gives him a practical appreciation for economic and regulatory impacts on local growth. Trained in law at Universiteit Leiden, he blends legal insight with technical fluency to navigate policy, procurement and governance effectively. Paul’s mix of civic responsibility and engineering pragmatism means he approaches urban problems with product-style iteration and data-informed decision making.
