Top SchoolPavel Tcholakov is a Staff Engineer with over two decades of software experience and more than 15 years leading delivery teams across financial services, distributed systems, and cloud-native platforms. He excels at designing and rebuilding high-performance transactional datastores, real-time change-data-capture pipelines, and cost-efficient serverless infrastructure, having led projects at Stedi, AWS EC2, and Discovery that materially improved latency, scalability, and integration velocity. Equally comfortable as a systems architect or hands-on implementer, he has a track record of replacing costly proprietary middleware with pragmatic open-source solutions and shipping production SDKs, CLIs, and metered cloud features. Known for quickly mastering new technologies, he also prioritizes trust and team growth, creating environments where engineers can scale their impact. Based in Cape Town, he currently builds resilient distributed applications at Restate and brings a builder’s curiosity that started on a PC XT to enterprise-grade cloud systems.
