Pedro Vieira is a UI-focused software engineer and founder with over 15 years building rich Java and JavaFX applications and interfaces, currently running Pixel Duke to craft productivity-boosting graphical apps for clients from Fortune 500s to resource-constrained startups. He has deep hands-on experience shaping the JavaFX ecosystem — including contributions to Scene Builder at Gluon and theming work like JMetro in the JFXtras styles repo — and has shipped tooling used in high-profile contexts such as NASA applications and White House software. Equally comfortable as a developer, designer and architect, he combines product-minded UI/UX design with low-level Java expertise to deliver polished, performant interfaces. An active FOSS maintainer, he often bridges platform gaps (historically integrating JavaFX into Swing) and favors pragmatic solutions that outcompete heavier implementations. Based in Portugal, he pairs formal computer engineering training with HCI and design coursework to keep both interaction and implementation tightly aligned.
