Summary

Senior🎓
Top SchoolPhilip Branning is an incisive, empathetic software engineer with 12 years of experience, currently building software for spacecraft manufacturing at Apex in Los Angeles. He combines research-grade rigor in statistics, signal processing, and human behavior with hands-on systems work—POSIX/Bash glue, reproducible builds, and automation. Guided by Wall’s virtues of laziness, impatience, and hubris, he prioritizes readable, minimal solutions and asks pragmatic questions about timing and user expectations. His background spans automatic speech recognition, 3D fMRI time-series analysis, robotics control and machine vision, and psychophysics-driven experimental design. Comfortable moving between low-level system plumbing and higher-level statistical interpretation, he thrives on finding analogies across domains to reuse proven solutions. Colleagues describe him as tenacious and curious, someone who will automate a tedious task just to never do it again.
