Summary
👤
SeniorPhilipp Kölmel is a seasoned technology leader and current CTO based in Hamburg with 15+ years of experience building product-led engineering organisations across startups and scale-ups. He combines hands-on engineering roots—from C/C++ game backends and anti-cheat systems to cloud infrastructure and ML delivery—with proven leadership in hiring, team design and rapid product iteration. His career includes pivotal roles at ESL, Bigpoint (through acquisition by Yoozoo), FREE NOW and recent startups Helsing and Qubit9, where he scaled teams, delivered production iterations in weeks, and shaped technical strategy. Philipp is user-obsessed: he frames leadership as the work of cultivating mindsets that produce happy customers and measurable product outcomes. He’s skilled at pragmatic trade-offs—driving down costs (50% reductions at Bigpoint) while launching complex systems like high-throughput platforms, payments and real-time matchmaking. Outside core roles he experiments with game design and rapid prototyping, reflecting a blend of product curiosity and deep operational experience.
