Top SchoolRafael Nicdao is a Senior Software Engineer based in Melbourne with 10 years of experience building scalable, pragmatic systems across IoT, event platforms, and financial services. He favors simplicity and elegant abstractions, with deep hands-on experience in Clojure, TypeScript/Node.js, real-time/event-driven architectures, and production DevOps on Kubernetes and AWS. Rafael has led end-to-end projects—designing data models, driving requirements, and mentoring through code and solution reviews—while delivering high-throughput alerting systems and time-traveling state abstractions for IoT fleets. He also contributes front-end UX improvements in open-source Hugo themes, demonstrating attention to polish as well as backend resilience. Practical and curious, Rafael pairs functional-programming interests (Emacs, Clojure) with a track record of shipping reliable, maintainable software in both startup and enterprise environments.
