Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolRich Lafferty is a Principal Site Reliability Engineer with over 20 years of systems and operations experience and a decade-plus of leadership building production architecture and teams at FreshBooks and PagerDuty. He blends deep hands-on reliability engineering—designing disaster recovery, automated AWS/Docker deployments, and high-availability MySQL clusters—with executive-facing strategy, budgeting, and compliance work (including PCI programs). Comfortable at the terminal or the boardroom, he has repeatedly driven higher release cadence and exceeded 99.98% availability targets while transplanting ops into product organizations to foster DevOps culture. Based in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, he pairs technical rigor with people leadership, hiring and mentoring managers and sysadmins into principal roles. Outside work he brings a broad humanistic perspective—musician, vegetarian, and practicing Buddhist—which informs his collaborative, values-driven approach to engineering.
