👤
Senior🎓
Top SchoolŞahin Utar is a seasoned software and solutions architect, co-founder and technology executive with over 25 years of experience building large-scale enterprise platforms across insurance, banking, logistics, healthcare and manufacturing in Turkey, the US and now Manchester. He blends hands-on engineering (C#, C++, Java, cloud-native AWS stacks and microservices) with product-driven domain engineering and ontology-based design to solve hard underwriting, claims and pricing problems. As a serial intrapreneur and fractional CTO he has led dramatic platform transformations—e.g., driving online insurer API adoption from 2% to over 90% and delivering multi-hundred-fold operational improvements in quoting and call-center efficiency. He co-founded InsurSight to apply ML to core insurance unit economics, fraud and claims automation, and now leads ThingsHappen to reimagine consumer insurance experiences. Comfortable translating research into production, he pairs rigorous software craftsmanship with OKR-driven strategy, agile practices and a penchant for turning domain complexity into elegant, reusable abstractions. An unusual strength is his track record of securing and executing large R&D and migration programs (databases, MES and automated warehouses) that saved millions while modernizing mission-critical systems.
