Top SchoolSamuel Caballero is a Staff Software Engineer with nine years of hands-on experience building and modernizing backend systems, primarily with Ruby on Rails. He has led teams through complex architectural work—extracting billing from a monolith with Kafka and GraphQL, modularizing large codebases with Packwerk, and integrating third-party systems like HubSpot and payment providers. Known for reducing technical debt and promoting engineering best practices, he also builds tooling to improve developer workflows (for example automating TODO tracking tied to Jira). Based in Salamanca, Spain, Samuel combines startup grit from co-founding ventures with scale-oriented experience at Toptal and Affirm, making him effective at both greenfield products and large migrations.
