Top SchoolSamuel Larkin is a software engineer and research council officer specializing in deep learning and machine translation, with over eight years of focused experience and two decades in engineering roles at institutions like the National Research Council Canada. He blends strong systems-level skills in C/C++ and scripting languages (Python, Perl, PHP) with academic training—a Master's in Statistical Machine Translation—to build and evaluate NMT and reinforcement learning systems. At NRC he has transitioned from core software engineering to leading deep learning research efforts, bridging production-grade implementation with experimental research. Based in Gatineau, Quebec, he brings practical expertise in deploying and iterating on research code, often working at the intersection of legacy C/C++ systems and modern Python-based ML stacks.
