SeniorSamuel Yuan is a Senior Software Engineer with a PhD in Computer Science and nine years of experience building secure, production-grade backend systems and APIs. He has a strong track record shipping resilient, high-availability services—from architecting a greenfield unified gRPC/REST API with Envoy transcoding to designing end-to-end authz systems and multi-tier traffic protection using Cloudflare Workers. At Square he improved endpoint SLIs to 99.99% while delivering offline-capable order processing, and his research background in system forensics and IoT security informs a pragmatic approach to threat-aware design. Comfortable across hybrid cloud deployments (AWS, fly.io) and PostgreSQL performance tuning, he blends academic rigor with hands-on engineering to solve tricky reliability and security problems. Based in the Atlanta metro area, he brings a rare combination of deep security research experience and real-world API/platform engineering.
