Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolScott Silver is a seasoned engineering and product leader with over two decades of experience scaling consumer and ad platforms at Amazon, Google, and YouTube, now serving as VP of Product & Engineering at YouTube. He combines deep systems and distributed-systems technical chops—dating back to JVM and VM work at Netscape and Connectix—with a proven ability to reorganize teams and modernize legacy monoliths into service-oriented architectures. Scott has led large organizations (hundreds to thousands of engineers) responsible for mission-critical, high-throughput systems like ordering, ad platforms, and global video infrastructure, improving availability and performance while shipping major product launches. He cares about details and people, hiring and mentoring managers and engineers to deliver durable technical and product outcomes. A hobbyist programmer by practice, he still writes and architects complex systems and has a track record of pragmatic engineering trade-offs (e.g., deduplication and partitioned storage at i-drive). Based in the San Francisco Bay Area with a Dartmouth CS background, he blends operational rigor with product instinct to drive scale and reliability.
