Top SchoolSean Janis is an experienced engineering leader with 12+ years building high-impact mobile and communications products at scale, currently leading Google’s Dialer Phone App. He has a track record of growing teams, shipping customer-first features, and driving operational excellence from Amazon Mobile Shopping to Pixel calling experiences. Sean excels at turning ambiguity into clarity through strong cross-functional partnerships, measurable launch outcomes (e.g., next-gen call screening that cut spam calls by ~50% for Pixel users), and repeatable talent development—having mentored dozens of engineers and multiple managers through promotions. He combines hands-on engineering sensibilities with program-level vision, often contributing code and architecting frameworks used across multiple teams. Based in San Francisco, he’s known for empathetic leadership, running learning programs that scale, and hiring for people who move fast and care deeply about user experience. Unobvious detail: beyond product launches, he codified on-call/playbook practices and centralized platform APIs (e.g., location framework) that reduced risk and standardized behavior across many app teams.
