Senior🎓
Top SchoolSeth Frey is an Associate Professor at UC Davis with a decade of experience at the intersection of cognitive science and computational social science, studying how culture and collective engagement evolve in large-scale digital environments. He holds a PhD in Cognitive Science from Indiana University and a BA from UC Berkeley, and his academic trajectory includes postdoctoral work at Disney Research and Dartmouth focused on large datasets and cultural evolution. At Davis he moved from Assistant to Associate Professor, leading research that blends computational modeling, data analysis, and theory to illuminate how information spreads and communities form. His Github persona—“science towards nescience”—signals a curiosity-driven approach that values probing what we don’t yet understand as much as refining what we do. Based in Davis, California, he is reachable via a deliberately playful reversed email hint on his research site, reflecting a blend of rigor and wit in his professional communication.
