Top SchoolShane Engelman is a senior software engineer with 12 years of experience building backend systems, cloud infrastructure, and immersive XR experiences from San Francisco. He blends deep Python/Django and Rust expertise with TypeScript, Node.js, and AWS to deliver scalable developer platforms, cryptographic tooling, and high-throughput services. Shane has repeatedly led cross-disciplinary projects—shipping open-source hardware and embedded systems for hackathons, architecting VR and LBE backends for wide-release experiences, and modernizing build pipelines to double project velocity. He pairs hands-on firmware and FPGA work (VHDL/Verilog) with large-scale cloud architecture, a rare full-stack-to-hardware skill set that powered a 180% increase in hackathon mentor engagement. An Air Force veteran and mentor to junior engineers, he emphasizes reliable, auditable systems and developer advocacy across distributed teams. Off the beaten path, he maintains niche tooling like Kindle2PDF/PDF2Remarkable and a Rust PGP HSM CLI that improve portability and cryptographic workflows.
