Senior🎓
Top SchoolShengwen Xie is a robotics engineer with nine years of experience blending academic rigor and hands-on system development, currently designing controllers for robotic arms at Elite Robot in Beijing. A Ph.D. candidate in Mechanical Engineering from Iowa State, he specializes in system identification, optimization, and optimal control, with proven expertise in hybrid motion/force controllers and stability proofs. His research delivered vision-free manipulation strategies—using only force/torque sensing—for tasks like peg‑in‑hole and screw tightening, and extended to contour tracking and dual-arm coordination. He also brought machine learning into control by modeling piezo actuator dynamics with RNNs, applying Koopman operator techniques and unscented Kalman filtering to enable tractable predictive control. Comfortable with MATLAB, Python, MuJoCo/Bullet and real-robot validation, he pairs theoretical guarantees with practical, robust implementations.
