Senior🎓
Top SchoolShinichi Takayanagi is a Lead AI Engineer and project leader based in Tokyo with 15 years of software and analytics experience, and over five years focused on data science and ML engineering. He blends deep quantitative skills from a PhD in Statistical Science and earlier physics training with hands-on production experience in C++, Python, R, Scala and large-scale ETL, having shipped models and systems across finance, ads, retail, healthcare and logistics. At BCG/BCG X he leads end-to-end AI engagements from ideation to operation, including personalization, next-best-action models and discrete-event simulations for coastal shipping. Prior roles span financial engineering—building pricing, Greeks and trading systems—to ad-tech platforms where he designed fraud detection, KPI prediction and AB testing frameworks. He often bridges research and product: teaching as a visiting associate professor while translating and supervising Japanese books on data topics, and managing both engineering teams and client-facing delivery. Not obvious from titles: he has repeatedly delivered commercial impact (including near-billion-yen annual improvements) by combining rigorous statistical modeling with pragmatic system design.
