Top SchoolShyam Akirala is a Senior Staff Engineer based in Bengaluru with 10 years of experience designing and operating high-throughput distributed systems across search and supply-chain domains. He has led and mentored large engineering groups (20–50+), driven architectural decisions, and built platforms that scale to millions of QPS with low latency and multi-datacenter active-active setups. At Flipkart he shipped semantic and multimodal search capabilities, dramatically shrank data footprints (300 GB to 150 MB) and open-sourced Flux, an event-driven workflow system now running millions of workflows per day. Known for pragmatic reliability work—bootstrap optimizations, RocksDB-based feature stores, and node coordination for replication—he blends hands-on coding with strategic technical leadership. Now at Coupang, he continues to focus on distributed systems, scalability, and platform design while mentoring large teams to operational excellence.
