Rockstar🎓
Top SchoolSichen Zhao is a Senior Software Engineer with 11 years of experience designing and shipping large distributed cloud services, currently building ClickHouse Cloud from the Greater Seattle Area. He brings deep systems and language fluency—Java, C#, Python, C++, and OCaml—honed across roles at AWS where he launched and improved Amazon Kendra and led major RDS SQL Server refactors and HA/restore features. His track record includes delivering security- and compliance-sensitive capabilities (cross-region TDE snapshot copy, CDC, HIPAA support) and hands-on work across infrastructure, data, and UI tooling. Comfortable owning end-to-end delivery, he has moved between startups and hyperscale engineering with a pragmatic focus on reliability and efficiency. A Waterloo-trained computer scientist, he pairs rigorous algorithmic thinking (earlier OCaml/C++ codegen work) with cloud-scale product experience. Colleagues describe him as a versatile problem-solver who surfaces subtle system-level improvements that materially reduce operational cost and risk.
