Summary
👤
SeniorSimon Woodward is a Senior Modelling Scientist with a PhD in Applied Mathematics and over 8 years of focused experience developing and applying numerical and conceptual models to agricultural and environmental systems. Based in Hamilton, New Zealand, he has led modelling work across DairyNZ, NIWA and Lincoln Agritech, translating complex water, nutrient and grazing system dynamics into actionable insights for farm management and policy. His work spans diverse data sources and software tools and is regularly published in international peer-reviewed journals, highlighting a strong mix of theoretical rigour and practical impact. Colleagues know him for bridging detailed process understanding with deliverable modelling solutions that inform on-farm decision making and catchment-scale management. A less obvious strength is his longevity in the sector—decades of domain continuity that provide exceptional institutional memory and model stewardship across evolving environmental challenges.
