Top SchoolSinclair Gurny is a Senior Machine Learning Engineer with nine years of experience building production-grade ML systems, currently focused on acoustic detection and classification at Certus Innovations. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from RPI, where his thesis developed real-time, declarative ML methods for aircraft weight estimation during takeoff. At Certus he has led a $1.76M subcontract to integrate audio-based ML into defense systems, architected cloud-native data lakes and Kubernetes infrastructure, and collected some of the largest gunshot and drone audio datasets known for these problems. His background spans discrete-event simulation and optimization for aerial-port operations, demonstrating a knack for turning research-grade models into deployable, mission-critical software. Based in Albany, NY, he also has a long history of teaching and mentoring, from undergraduate TA work to instructing youth in robotics and programming.
