Top SchoolSmruti Sahoo is a Staff Software Engineer based in California with a decade of experience designing and shipping high-throughput, low-latency distributed systems. He has deep expertise in Java, timeseries databases, and instrumentation, having built an in-memory timeseries database at Yahoo benchmarked for over 11M writes/sec on a single JVM and sub-100ms P99 query latencies. As maintainer of Ultrabrew Metrics and OpenTSDB-Aura, he blends production engineering with open-source stewardship for mission-critical observability. His background includes leading UGC platform efforts on Yahoo’s Sherpa and Vespa stack and developing security and workflow systems earlier in his career. Now at Robinhood, he continues to focus on scalable, lockless and cache-friendly architectures for real-world high-throughput workloads. Colleagues rely on him for pragmatic system design that balances extreme performance with operational reliability.
