Sofia Javed is a software engineer with five years of experience building full‑stack and front‑end web applications, specializing in JavaScript, TypeScript, Vue (including Vue 3 migrations), and Ruby on Rails. She transitioned from nearly a decade in human rights and foreign policy—managing multi‑million dollar programs and reporting from conflict zones—bringing deep domain knowledge of inclusion, accessibility, and governance to tech projects. At Tidelift she progressed from junior hire to Software Engineer II, contributing to component libraries, APIs, and cross‑functional feature delivery while fostering team engagement through events and support channels. Based in Chicago, she now serves as a frontline Bus Operator for the CTA, honing real‑time decision‑making and crisis de‑escalation skills that translate to high‑stakes engineering contexts. Comfortable in public speaking and storytelling (including stand‑up comedy), Sofia combines technical craft with empathy and practical leadership to build user‑centered, socially minded software.
