Senior🎓
Top SchoolStef Lhermitte is an associate research professor and remote sensing scientist with a decade of experience applying multi-source satellite data and land surface models to study snow, ice, climate, and ecosystem dynamics. He holds a PhD in Bioscience Engineering from KU Leuven and combines academic leadership roles at KU Leuven and TU Delft with hands-on expertise in big-data remote sensing and machine learning. His work spans improvements to climate model albedo parametrizations, hierarchical spatio-temporal segmentation tools, and operational snow and hydrological applications—often bridging field insight from Chilean arid zones to polar cryosphere studies. Known for translating complex satellite time series into actionable environmental insights, he also runs the Earthmapps initiative to make remote sensing outputs more accessible.
