Top SchoolStéphane Lafontaine is a mid-level Ruby on Rails back-end developer based in Montreal with eight years of hands-on experience building and maintaining production Rails applications, currently contributing to a large monolith at Petal. Previously he led Le Wagon Montreal as lead teacher and batch owner, coaching instructors, managing Agile student projects (80+), and teaching Ruby, Rails (v5–7), OOP and JS—experience that honed his product-thinking and mentorship skills. He’s proficient with Postgres, ActiveRecord, Action Cable, RSpec, Webpack and Heroku, and routinely writes tests, docs, and incident investigations. Beyond code, Stéphane’s background as a sound engineer, Shiatsu therapist and Qigong instructor gives him a practical, people-centered approach to leadership and problem solving that surfaces in team coaching and cross-functional collaboration.
