Top SchoolStephen Brandon is a software engineering manager and Army veteran with 20+ years of hands-on experience building resilient infrastructure, leading high-performing teams, and shipping cost-conscious cloud platforms. Currently at Apple after leading cloud infrastructure and data storage at Brex, he specializes in marrying LLM infrastructure and local-first AI with pragmatic engineering management, privacy, and cost optimization. He founded Brex’s Data Storage team, drove a 60%+ AWS cost reduction, and built internal tooling like an MCP for monorepo queries and automated database upgrade workflows with zero downtime. An author of three nonfiction books on engineering leadership, AWS cost optimization, and data privacy—and a fiction co-author under E.S. Brandon—he blends technical rigor with narrative craft.
