Top SchoolStephen Dorn is a PhD student in Biomathematics at UCLA and a research assistant focused on statistical genetics, especially integrating functional assays like Perturb-Seq and MPRA with GWAS to study neurodegenerative disorders and genetic risk prediction. With nine years of experience spanning startup CTO roles and senior business intelligence positions, he blends deep quantitative modeling in Python with product-minded data engineering that has driven measurable business impact (e.g., tools that saved thousands of hours and doubled revenue in prior roles). He co-founded two education and HR-tech ventures, leading engineering teams to build widely used web applications and curriculum adopted by hundreds of schools. Based in Los Angeles, he pairs academic rigor from UW–Madison and practical software delivery skills to translate complex genomic data into actionable insights, often bridging experiment-driven functional data with human genetics in novel ways.
