Top SchoolSungjae Lee is a PhD candidate and graduate research associate at The Ohio State University specializing in high-performance computing with MPI middleware, cloud HPC, quantum computing simulation, and ML/DL systems. With nine years of research and teaching experience spanning Kookmin University, UC Irvine, NVIDIA, and Samsung, he blends systems performance optimization with practical cloud-native and containerized deployments. At OSU and NOWLAB he focuses on MVAPICH performance, containerization, and evaluating MPI on public clouds for quantum simulation workloads. His background in both business administration and computer science gives him a pragmatic perspective on cost- and time-efficient deep learning systems. He frequently bridges theory and practice—teaching CUDA and accelerated computing while contributing to production-ready HPC stacks. Based in Columbus, Ohio, he brings a rare mix of hands-on GPU/CUDA experience and distributed systems research aimed at making large-scale scientific computing more accessible.
