Top SchoolSurajudeen Akande is a backend engineer with over 10 years of experience designing and operating scalable, cloud-native systems across e-commerce, edtech, health-tech, and venture-focused products. He specializes in backend development, API integrations, automation, and migration of CI/CD pipelines (notably Jenkins to GitLab CI), consistently turning technical improvements into measurable business impact like a $3M uplift from global payment integrations. Known for leading and mentoring teams, he has managed groups of ~10 engineers and driven product-first architectures such as a concept-first data model for low-resource language tooling. Technically fluent in Node.js, PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker, Nest.js and PHP, he balances deep implementation skills with product thinking to ship resilient microservices and localization efforts. Currently based in Munich and working with venture labs and startups, he pairs hands-on engineering with startup enablement to help early-stage products scale. Outside the code, he’s active in public speaking and community mentorship, often bringing developer experience and learnability into engineering decisions.
