Top SchoolSytse Reitsma is a Lead Software Engineer with over a decade of hands-on experience building real-time embedded control systems, firmware, and electronics for high-tech products. He specializes in C++-centric development with a test-first mindset (TDD/ATDD), leveraging Python for tooling and recently adopting Rust to improve safety in critical code. Sytse has led both greenfield architecture and surgical rewrites of legacy systems using pragmatic design principles (SOLID, mikado method) and documents intent-focused rationale to aid long-term maintainability. As founder of Softsyde and technical lead at companies including Technobis, Alfen and Moog, he blends consultancy agility with industrial-grade delivery for simulation, test equipment and product firmware. Based in the Netherlands with a background in hydrography, he brings a systems-level perspective that connects hardware, control engineering and software testing practices in a concise, maintainable way. An advocate for simple, loosely coupled designs, he often uses PlantUML/mdBook to make hidden requirements and design intent visible.
