Top SchoolTanner Bitz is a Staff Robotics Software Engineer with a decade of experience blending mechanical engineering fundamentals and production-grade software to build human-robot interaction systems. He holds an MSE in Mechanical Engineering from Arizona State University and has driven robotics software at Asensus Surgical and ARA, focusing on real-time control, high-bandwidth sensor integration, and GUI tooling. Recent work includes a Python/Qt real-time visualization stack, a C++ TCP client capturing EMG at 2 kHz, and integrating variable-damping controllers on a 7-DOF KUKA LBR iiwa to probe stability versus impedance trade-offs. Comfortable across C++ and Python, he pairs experimental research rigor with practical systems engineering to move lab innovations into clinical and field-ready products. Based in Durham, NC, Tanner brings both academic depth and hands-on production experience in safety-critical robotic systems.
