Summary
👤
Senior🎓
Top SchoolThanos Kontos is a pragmatic backend software engineer with nine years of experience designing and shipping both monolithic systems and cloud-native microservices. He has moved from full-stack PHP roles into Go-powered backend work, contributing across the full product lifecycle—from feature design and architecture to deployment, monitoring and incident response. At Beat he built passenger-facing features, worked with Kafka/protobuf eventing, Terraform-managed AWS resources, Kubernetes, and Prometheus/Grafana observability, and he has led a cross-functional engineering team including 1:1s and hiring. His fintech experience at Tora Wallet gave him hands-on exposure to PCI-DSS considerations and payment gateway integrations. Based in Attica, Greece, he combines steady execution in production systems with a background in both legacy and modern stacks, making him effective at evolving complex codebases. An understated strength is his comfort working end-to-end on a feature — from API design and tests to deployment and monitoring — which helps bridge product and ops concerns.
