Top SchoolThomas Clauwaert is a lecturer in Applied Computer Science and Cybersecurity with 11 years of hands-on experience teaching at HOWEST and HoGent while bridging academic theory and practical industry skills. He brings a background in network engineering and automation—having scripted Infoblox and Palo Alto APIs and worked with Rundeck—paired with research into testing and automation for game development. Passionate about security and ethical hacking, he also coaches youth tech initiatives and has a history writing about games and moderating online communities. Based in Ghent, he combines a Master’s in Information Engineering Technology with Cum Laude applied informatics credentials, enabling a strong mix of pedagogy and technical depth. Not obvious from his title: he applies game-development testing insights to teaching software quality and automation in cybersecurity curricula. Colleagues and students know him as a data-driven, network-minded educator who keeps practical tooling and real-world workflows central to learning.
