Top SchoolThomas Gebert is a software engineer based in New York with a decade-plus of experience focused on backend engineering and distributed systems, currently working at Freed. He has held senior and staff roles at Apple, Walmart Global Tech, and Schrödinger, demonstrating experience scaling production systems across large enterprises. Equally curious about low-level and theoretical topics, he studies compilers, formal methods, and machine learning in addition to practical Linux-focused tooling across RedHat, SLES and Debian ecosystems. He has taught as an adjunct lecturer and built across stacks from Node.js web apps to iPad clients, signaling both breadth and a knack for explaining complex concepts. Colleagues would describe him as a pragmatic engineer who blends deep systems thinking with hands-on delivery.
