Top SchoolTim Verbelen is a research-driven engineering leader with 12 years of experience, currently directing the Intelligent Systems Lab at VERSES where he applies active inference to teach embodied agents new perception and control skills. Trained magna cum laude in Computer Software Engineering at Ghent University, he blends rigorous academic foundations with practical research-to-product translation in robotics and multi-agent systems. Known for exploring scalable, real-world applications of probabilistic cognition, he focuses on agents that interact robustly with complex environments and each other. Based in the Ghent metropolitan area, he brings a rare combination of hands-on technical depth and lab-scale leadership, bridging theory, experiments, and engineering delivery. An understated strength is his commitment to making advanced cognitive models computationally tractable for deployment beyond the lab.
