Top SchoolTom Brus is a seasoned software engineer and entrepreneur with over 35 years in IT, 20+ years of Java experience and a deep focus on model-driven architecture (MDA) and software factories. As co-founder of Open Walnoot and owner of Modeling Value Group BV, he builds declarative tooling (dclare) and decision-support workbenches that automate complex domains like healthcare and taxation, often compiling high-level domain rules into production Java services. He combines hands-on systems work—CI/CD, large-scale nightly test farms, Linux/Windows build clouds and embedded C/C++—with a strong user-experience ethos aimed at removing repetitive burdens from users. Notably, he designed environments that test tens of millions of tax cases nightly and enabled tax experts to author law rules directly via JetBrains MPS. Based in the Randstad, Netherlands, Tom pairs academic roots in functional languages with practical software-factory implementations that push automation from code generation to industrialized production.
