Top SchoolTom Eyckmans is a Principal Engineer with 17 years of hands-on experience building Java-based, cloud-native systems and a strong focus on Kubernetes and Spring Boot. Currently at Showpad and running his own consultancy, he architects and ships containerized backends using Micronaut, Kotlin, TypeScript, and serverless AWS patterns while guiding teams through production-grade deployments. He brings deep operational experience—from single-table DynamoDB designs and messaging with SQS/Kinesis to large-scale Oracle maintenance and release management—and a history of improving developer workflows (Gradle contributions and build migrations). Tom stays technically ahead by contributing to open source and exploring build tooling and parallel test execution, combining practical delivery with a penchant for tooling improvements that boost team productivity. Based in Wuustwezel, Belgium, he pairs enterprise consulting experience with entrepreneurial initiative, often tackling the intersection of developer ergonomics and resilient cloud architecture.
